National Means cum Merit Scholarship Scheme or NMMSS 2023 applications would close soon. As one of the largest Government Scholarships given by the Central Government, NMMSS provides financial assistance to one lakh Class 9 students every year. Check eligibility, how to apply and last dates here.

National Means cum Merit Scholarship Scheme, NMMSS 2023 applications would close soon. The scheme offers a scholarship of up to Rs. 12, 000 per year to 1 lakh students for the purpose of assisting them to continue their secondary school education. Students, institutes can apply online on National Scholarship Portal till October 31, 2022. Check out the eligibility, how and where to apply for the same.

NMMSS 2023 – Eligibility

As mentioned, the scholarship is given to assist the students of economically weaker sections. The purpose of the scholarship is to stop dropping out of schools after Class 8 due to lack of funds. To help meritorious students, one lakh fresh scholarships are awarded each year to students of Class 9 every year for continuation of their education or renewal of their education in Classes 10 to 12.

To be eligible, the students’ parental income should not be more than Rs. 3, 50, 000 per annum. Students must be studying in State Government, Government aided or local body schools and must have a minimum of 55% marks in their Class 7 examination (relaxable by 5% for SC/ST students).

NMMSS 2022 – How to apply

Eligible candidates can apply online on the Fresh Applications section of National Scholarship Portal (direct link provided here). Institutes are encouraged to inform the meritorious students and help them to apply online on the NSP.

No documents have to be uploaded at the time of application. Applications close on October 31. Once application is complete, documents have to be verified at the local administrative level. Two level verification process.

First level is at the Institute Nodal Office or INO Level which must be done by November 15, 2022. The second level of verification is at the District Nodal Officer or DNO level and last date for the same is November 30, 2022. Selection would be done on the basis of the performance in a selection test.
